Abstract

This study conducted a comparative documentary analysis of Panama’s Individualized Educational Program (PEI) and Colombia’s Individual Plan for Reasonable Accommodations (PIAR) to identify strengths, differences, and opportunities for improvement in the implementation of reasonable accommodations. Using a qualitative approach, categories related to pedagogical assessment, barriers to learning and participation, educational supports, monitoring processes, and family involvement were analyzed. The findings revealed a stronger alignment of the PIAR with contemporary principles of inclusive education. It is concluded that incorporating key elements of the PIAR could strengthen curriculum adaptation processes and support educational diversity within the Panamanian context.
