An Approach to the Philosophy of Education

This article offers a broad overview of the Philosophy of Education as an academic discipline. The background is narrated from the "paideia" of Ancient Greece to the analytical and continental philosophies of education that currently apply. Then, the similarities, differences, and the type of relationship between the Philosophy of Education, Educational Theory and Educational Practice are explained. And it ends by offering a definition that tries to encompass the various approaches and methods that characterize the Philosophy of Education.
